Luis Diaz-Santana
Founder
Luis is a strategic advisor and technology scout with over 25 years of experience in ophthalmic innovation. He is passionate about harnessing new technologies to address the challenge of caring for a growing and ageing global population.
He founded LDSH Strategy in 2023 to support ophthalmic startups in shaping their commercial strategies, securing funding, and building the right partnerships. In parallel, he works with Alcon as a technology scout for the Alcon Seed Fund, extending his influence across the global ophthalmic innovation ecosystem.
Luis has advised both multinational eye care companies and early-stage ventures on innovation pathways in areas such as intraocular lenses (IOLs), surgical robotics, and ocular drug delivery. His unique combination of technical expertise, market insight, and understanding of human–technology interactions enable him to bring clarity and direction to complex challenges.
He holds a PhD in Ophthalmic Optics from Imperial College London and was an early pioneer in aberrometry and high-resolution retinal imaging, contributing to foundational advances that continue to shape the field today.
